With just a few days left to go, Door County Humane Society staff and supporters are hard at work putting the finishing touches on this year’s “Bark in the Park.”
The eagerly anticipated annual fundraiser will be held on Saturday, August 28 at Sunset Park in Sturgeon Bay.
Registration opens at 9 am, rain or shine. The opening rally kicks off at 9:45 am and at 10 am, Harley the Camel will lead registered dogs and humans alike in the popular “Bark in the Park” benefit walk. Afterward, all registered walkers will receive a doggie goody-bag and lunch and the event will draw to a close shortly after noon.
“Bark in the Park is such a great day for relaxing in one of our city’s most beautiful parks with family members and friends,” says Carrie Counihan, DCHS’s executive director. “This year’s event is going to be a lot of fun. We’ll have live music with Mike and Bob Starr, MC services from Chuck Lakefield of 94.3 / 99.7 WROE’s Morning Show, readings with pet psychic Gale Ritchie and a variety of vendor booths. Golden Retriever Rescue will be on site as well.”
“Bark in the Park” registration is just $25 per person and $50 per family. For an additional pledge of $25 or more, participants will receive an official 2010 “Bark in the Park” T-shirt, and DCHS will award prizes to its top pledgers. Already, the Door County community is rallying around DCHS and “Bark in the Park.”
“We have many, many sponsors,” Counihan says. “It would be impossible to mention them all in one place! We’re deeply grateful to all of them; it’s so gratifying to have this many individuals and businesses joining hands with us as we pursue a common purpose. There’s nowhere quite like Door County, and we’re all looking forward to spending some quality time with all of our two- and four-legged friends at Sunset Park next Saturday.”
The 2010 “Bark in the Park” pledge forms are available online and also will be available at the park on the day of the event.
