The 68th annual Sister Bay Fall Fest takes place October 18, 19 and 20 throughout the village in beautiful northern Door County and ping pong balls will again fall from the sky!
This “Granddaddy” of all Door County festivals boasts the peninsula’s biggest and best parade of the year at 11 am on Saturday. This year’s Parade Marshall will be announced during the parade and honored as the 2013 Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Volunteer of the Year. Rhythm and beats for the parade floats and participants will be delivered with gusto by the Gibraltar School District Marching Band, the Green Bay Preble High School Marching Band and the Milwaukee Scottish Pipe Band. Any Door County individual, business or local group is invited to enter a float in the parade or dress up in costume and entertain the crowd. Pre-parade line-up will take place beginning at 10 am on Maple Dr. aka County ZZ heading out beyond the Sister Bay Bowl.
The events include a 3-day juried arts and crafts festival where only vendors who sell their own arts and crafts are accepted. You will find a variety of delicious food and beverages sold by Door County non-profit groups and local village businesses. There will be activities for kids of all ages and live music at numerous spots throughout the village. The grand finale of the weekend takes place on Sunday at 2 pm, featuring a new method of launching more than 10,000 ping pong balls labeled with discounts and prizes from area businesses, into a crowd of thousands in the ever popular Ping Pong Ball Drop.
NEW THIS YEAR:
- Fall festers will have access to free Wi-Fi throughout the festival grounds,
- Bowlers can try for a strike in Pumpkin Bowling,
- Eaters are encouraged to test their skills with a Sloppy Joe Eating Contest.
The Sister Bay Lions Club will host a Door County Fish Boil Friday night at the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Fire Station, followed by a film screening and fundraiser for the Door County Short Film Fest after the Fish Boil in the large room at the Sister Bay Fire Station. On Saturday morning the Northern Door Kiwanis will flip as many pancakes as you can eat at the Village Hall.
