On Saturday, September 17 from 10 am – 1 pm, Cottage Row Framing and Gallery will host a Meet the Artist Opening Reception featuring Jack Anderson.
Jack Anderson is well known for his use of watercolor and finds it to be the most spontaneous, versatile, and exciting challenge; as well as the most rewarding to him personally. This exhibit will feature new original watercolors, new prints and new note cards.
Jack says, “For the collection, I have returned to subjects I worked with thirty and forty years ago but have given a new twist to my interpretation. I like painting old things and what Mother Nature provides.”
Mr. Anderson often paints a favorite spot again and again, depicting the crisp contrasts of winter or the soft earth tones of late autumn or early spring. His favorite subjects include painting old weathered wood, sagging roof lines or early log barns and meandering fence lines and creeks.
“I have tried to provide a variety of subject matter within the area of Door County landscapes. Changing seasons, different moods and atmospheric conditions are evident in the locales we view around the county. I never tire of the material presented to my eyes, and my interpretation of it keeps me enthusiastic about capturing it on paper,” he says.
Jack lives in Door County with his wife Sue. He has both a B.S. and M.S. degree in art education from Northern Illinois University and has completed additional advance work through several universities in the Midwest. Jack taught for 18 years in the Crystal Lake, Illinois area.
