Letter to the Editor:
On Wednesday, October 22 the Door County League of Women Voters and Wisconsin Alliance for Excellent Schools sponsored a Public Listening Session with the Candidates for District 1 Assembly, Garey Bies and Dick Skare, on the topic of School Funding in Wisconsin.
Thanks to candidates Garey Bies and Dick Skare for attending to listen to the information and the views of school representatives and community members present, as well as for sharing how, if elected, they would support legislation to provide relief for school financial stressors.
Our thanks are also extended to the school administrators and board members who participated on a panel to share information and concerns of the public schools in Door County including Stephen Seyfer – Gibraltar, Dick Weidman & Mark Herrell – Sevastopol, Joel Kitchens & Tom Olsen – Sturgeon Bay, Susan Churchill-Chastan– Washington Island, and Joe Innis – Southern Door.
Our thanks to community members who attended, asked critical questions, and offered their views.
The listening session was video taped. It will be aired on local cable channels and is available at the Door County Public Library and the District Offices of each public school.
