Mike Locatelli, Wildlife Technician leads work days every Friday to control the invasion. Pre-registration is not required but appreciated. The next scheduled event date is on May 28 at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm. Meet at the Nature Center for this volunteer opportunity. Come for one or two hours, please dress for the weather (long pants are preferable). We’ll provide the water, gloves and a snack. Volunteers for this event will receive a complimentary daily vehicle sticker.

Offered on Friday, June 18 from 1 – 3 pm, you will learn basic techniques while enjoying the natural beauty of Whitefish Dunes. Pre-registration is strongly suggested by June 16 but walk-ins are welcome, $10 charge for materials. Suggested to bring a nature photo or object. This adult class begins in the shelter building. Join the naturalist for a short hike to discover the beauty of flowers.
Spring has arrived and so have the flowers. Wish to know more about the spring blooms? Finding flowers and identifying them will be easy after you spend time at The Dunes on Saturday, May 29 at 2 pm.
Dog owners are reminded that the first segment of the beach is closed to dogs, but the dog beach is still open.
You can access it by hiking the red trail to the third beach access. Please, remember to keep your dog on a leash for their safety and the safety of the park wildlife. A map to the dog beach is available in the nature center.
Whitefish Dunes State Park is located at 3275 Clark Lake Road (county WD), on the Lake Michigan shoreline south of Jacksonport. All programs are free to the public unless noted; a park vehicle sticker is required.
