Representing Door, Kewaunee and part of Brown Counties in the state’s 1st Senate District, Alan Lasee (R-De Pere) announces his retirement from the Wisconsin Legislature.

“After serving in the Wisconsin State Legislature for 36 years, I am announcing my retirement. After a great deal of thought and consideration, I’ve decided not to seek another term.
Throughout my tenure, there have been accomplishments and victories. I am most proud, however, of the work done on behalf of my constituents. From the expansion of Highway 57, a new bridge in Sturgeon Bay, and significant investments made in growing the economy in northeastern Wisconsin to fighting for property rights and ensuring that people I represent got a fair shake with state agencies, it’s been an unbelievable experience. I would like to thank my constituents for giving me this privilege to serve them and work on their behalf.
Over the years, I’ve had an opportunity to work with many colleagues and governors, been in and out of the majority, and proudly served as Senate President. While Republicans and Democrats may have philosophical differences on a number of issues, I have many memories of working together in a bipartisan fashion to make this state an even better place to work, live and raise a family.
It’s difficult to do this job without the understanding of your family. I cannot thank my wife Jan, our children, and the rest of the family enough for all their support and patience throughout the years. They sacrificed a great deal to allow me to do a job that I absolutely love.
I look forward to serving out my term and working on behalf of everyone who has graciously entrusted me over the years to look out for their best interests. ”
