Jessup opens new psychological counseling office in the Fairfield Building on 3rd Avenue in downtown Sturgeon.Bay.
Jody Jessup specializes in eating disorders, weight and body image issues, personal growth, stress management, relationship issues, wellness and nutritional consultation.
“As one of a handful of professional psychotherapists in the US who is also a registered dietitian, I hold unique qualifications to address the entire range of food issues and body image concerns,” says Jessup.
Jody has had a private practice in dietetics for over 25 years, and has 15 years experience working with women and adolescents who struggle with disordered eating, including binge eating, anorexia, and bulimia.
In addition to working with food-related issues, Jessup has extensive experience in life skills enhancement and in counseling couples, adolescents and adults struggling with depression, anxiety and communication problems.
“Food is fundamental to life. We connect with food several times each day in an experience that can be nurturing or punishing,” she explains. “Our relationship with food reflects how we relate to self and others. Food issues are never about food. Instead, they allow us a wonderful opportunity to get clear on what we are truly hungry for so that we can begin to tend to ourselves with greater wisdom.”
Her new office is located in Sturgeon Bay’s historic Fairfield Building. She provides traditional face-to-face psychotherapy to clients in northeast Wisconsin and also coaches food, nutrition and wellness issues on the phone. Jessup will also continue to see clients at her Northern Door office in Sister Bay.
