Best Christmas Pageant Ever is a Holiday Gift to the Whole Community.

First written as a short story for McCall’s Magazine, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever rapidly became a holiday classic. Barbara Robinson’s hilarious Christmas tale follows the struggles of a couple trying to put on a church Christmas pageant and faced with casting the most inventively awful kids in history. Directed by Bill Bauernfeind, the play is a presentation of For Kids By Kids, the Third Avenue Playhouse children’s theater arts program. Performances are scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, December 3, 4 & 5 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, December 6 at 2 pm.

Everyone in town agrees that the Herdmans are absolutely the worst kids in the history of the world. They lie, steal, smoke cigars – even the girls! – use slang and hit little kids. So no one is prepared when this outlaw family invades church one Sunday and decides to take over the annual Christmas pageant.

To make matters worse, none of the Herdmans has ever heard the Christmas story before. Their interpretation of the tale? The Wise Men are a bunch of dirty spies and Herod needs a good beating! A lot of people are up in arms, but the actual pageant turns out to be a surprise for everyone including the Herdmans themselves.

The local cast features kids ranging in age from 6 to 16 along with several adult actors. Cast members include: Jenna Augustson, Josh Augustson, Timmy Bee.
